After Applying
While your application is under review: Your county’s DSS office may contact you to request additional documents. Respond promptly to avoid delays. You can check your status through NC ePASS or by calling 1-888-245-0179.
If you’re approved:
- Your health coverage may be retroactive, meaning Medicaid can help cover recent medical bills.
- You'll receive enrollment information in the mail and can enroll in an NC Medicaid managed care plan.
Staying enrolled:
- Report changes in income, household size, or address promptly through NC ePASS or by contacting your local DSS office.
- Your coverage must be renewed annually. Watch for renewal notices and respond on time to avoid losing coverage.
